Day 3: Say Yes to the Guest(book)

Looking to put a modern twist on the traditional wedding guestbook?  Take a cue from some of these unique guestbook alternatives:

Engagement Photo Guestbook: Ask your photographer if they can create a custom guestbook using your engagement photos, leaving enough space for guests to write their message. Photo guestbooks can also be purchased via an online photo site such as snapfish.com

Guestbook Quilt:  This idea can work one of two ways: 1. Individual patches can be displayed on a table with markers so that guest can write their message.  Afterwards, the patches can be sewn together to make a keepsake quilt. 2. You can have the quilt pre-made for guests to sign.  Either way, this alternative is something you can keep and cherish forever.

Photo Mat Guestbook: Display one of your favorite photos in a mounted photo mat for guests to sign.  The great thing about the photo mat guestbook alternative is that it would look great hanging in your home after the wedding!

Instant Photo Guestbook: How cool would it be to not only have a written message from your guests, but a  keepsake picture to go along with it?! All you'll need is someone to snap a photo of each guest using a polaroid (or similar) instant camera. Guest can affix the picture to their page and leave a handwritten note.  You'll always remember just how happy your guests were as they celebrated your special day with you!

Wishing Tree: The wishing tree is another great alternative.  Guests can write a "wish" for the happy couple and hang it from the branches of the wishing tree.  With this option, you can get really creative with the tree design, and your guests will be happy to share their well wishes for your future together as the Mr. and Mrs.

Until next time, happy planning!

30 Day Blogging Challenge & We've Been Featured!

Hello out there! Did you miss me?! My poor blog has been neglected lately and I feel awful.  When I started this blog, my goal was to post 3-4 times per week, but because of my busy schedule, that goal has fallen somewhere by the wayside.  But, because I believe everyone has a chance to redeem themselves, I have come up with a solution: the 30-Day Blogging Challenge! That's right my friends, I have committed myself to blogging every single day for the next 30 days (with the exception of my already scheduled vacation March 4-7).  So, what does this mean for you? Well, that's an easy one: more informative tips, advice, ideas, and of course some delicious eye candy to help get you on your way to planning a fabulous event!  I'll even throw in a few video blog posts from time to time.

Now don't get me wrong, I am not planning to disappear into oblivion again after the 30days.  The purpose is to get myself back in the writing groove and to follow my original vision to bring fresh content to my readers 3-4 times a week.  So sit back, relax, and enjoy the journey because boy do I have some good stuff in store for you!

To kick off the 30 Day Challenge on a positive note, I wanted to share some exciting news: Platinum Touch Events has been featured on The Favour Shoppe blog!  It was our first article contribution ever...how awesome is that?!  Show some love by clicking here to check out the article "Ten Money-Saving Tips for Your Wedding".  Be sure to leave a comment below to let me know what you think of it.

Remember to check back tomorrow for Day 2 of the 30 Day Blogging Challenge!

Real Parties: Dora Fiesta 3rd Birthday

A couple of weekends ago, I had the pleasure of putting together a Dora Fiesta 3rd Birthday Party for the most adorable twin girls in the world (ok, I may be a little biased because they're MY twins girls, but they are beautiful nonetheless).  For weeks as I planned the party I had one major concern: the weather! For the past two years, the weather has been terrible on the twins' birthday: the first year it was raining, the second year it was SUPER windy. I had some awesome entertainment lined up, so the last thing I needed was for mother nature to rain on our parade, literally!

But the weather was great!  It was bright and sunny...the perfect day for a party! So, party is what we did.  The theme was "A Dora Fiesta", and the kids (and adults) had a great time feasting on Mexican food (ceviche, enchiladas, beans, and spanish rice), jumping in the bounce house, and riding the party train.  There was even a special surprise appearance by Dora.

Check the pics below for all the Fiesta fun!

The kid's tables set-up...

A close-up of the place settings...

Dora birthday banner served as a nice backdrop...

The favor table/drink station...

The Manzanita Photo Tree was a party highlight...guests enjoyed seeing photos of the twins throughout the years...

I handmade these Dora "Backpacks" for the girls and Diego "Rescue Packs" for the boys...aren't they the cutest?!?!

No kids party is complete without a jumper (aka bounce house)...

We had a clown to entertain the kids...

and Dora herself made an appearance...

But the ultimate highlight of the party was, hands-down, the Trackless Party Train!!!

I had a chance to ride on the train and I think I may have had a little more fun than the kids!

The train played music as it wheeled the kids around the neighborhood...

The birthday girls!

The cake featured a picture of the birthday girls...

I wonder what they wished for as they blew out the candles...a bike perhaps?!

Wishes come true!!!

Come On, Vamanos! It's a Dora Fiesta!

*Singing* - Come on vamanos, everybody let's go!!!!!!

My twin daughters, Aaliya & Alexis love Dora the Explorer. So, it was really a no-brainer when it was time to decide on a theme for their 3rd birthday party: a Dora Fiesta!!! I am so excited because I have some really great ideas for the party and I've been working on some really fun and cute DIY projects. As usual, i'm really anxious to see how everything comes together. I only have one MAJOR concern: the weather, ugh! Their birthday is at the end of January, so it's usually raining (keeping fingers crossed that it doesn't this year) or super cold. Either way, I'm sure we'll have a blast!

Here is a photo of me and the twins at 2 years old....awww, they grow up sooo fast!

I'll be posting from time to time with updates on the party so you'll definitely want to stay tuned.

Until next time, happy planning!

Floral Eye Candy

OMG, I spotted this on the Lemiga Events blog and just HAD to share.  If you look really closely, you'll see  a yellow zipper attached to the leaf! How creative is that!!!  The floral arrangement was designed by StudioWed Atlanta vendor, The Savage Garden, for the Atlantan Brides Evening of Luxury event.  Here are a few more pics for your viewing pleasure:

Now that is what I call attention to detail! I am a firm believer that the smallest details can make the biggest impact, and this definately backs up my theory!
