{Wedding Inspiration} 2013 Golden Globe Awards

Ok, I have a confession: I did not watch the 2013 Golden Globe Awards last night (hangs head in shame), BUT, I definitely enjoyed catching all of the recaps and highlights on television, facebook, and various blogs.  The ladies definitely pulled out all the stops when it came to their Red Carpet looks!

Maybe it's just the wedding planner in me, but I couldn't help but think of how many dressess on the Red Carpet could translate into a beautiful wedding gown.  Here are a few of my fave wedding worthy looks:

Julianne Hough put an edgy spin on this gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown with gold accents.

Jennifer Lopez wearing Zuhair Murad...a little risque, but I can totally see a "daring" bride give this look a try!

Amy Adams looked feminine and sweet in this pink Marchesa gown.

Kerry Washington sparkled in this nude mesh Miu Miu dress.

Megan Fox looked stunning as always in Dolce and Gabbana.

Hayden Panettiere looked fab!

Isla Fisher proved that you can still make a statement by going the simple route.

In non-wedding fashion, I have to say that Halle Berry and Eva Longoria ROCKED IT!!! Definitely two of my favorite looks of the night!

PTE Wants to Know: What were your favorite Red Carpet looks from last night's Golden Globe Awards? Who nailed it? Who bombed? Do you look to the Red Carpet for wedding gown inspiration?

XOXO,
Nikola

Baby Got Back!

I know you're probably wondering what the heck a 90's rap song title has to do with wedding planning, but trust me, it's so fitting for this post!

We're talking about wedding dresses with stunning back details!

The dress is probably one of the most anticipated aspects of any wedding, so why not give the people what they want!  Instead of only focusing on the front of your dress, think about what it would be like to have a beautiful 360 degree view, with a beautiful front and back.

Lace...cutouts...intricate bead work, etc.  These are all things that make for an interesting wedding dress back design.

Take a look at a few of these amazing back designs (psst, they're pretty sexy too!)

PTE Wants to Know:  Do you think how the back of a wedding dress looks is as important as the front?  What is the first thing that catches your eye about a wedding dress (style, fabric, intricate details, etc).

Convertible Wedding Dresses

Have you ever thought about rocking a short dress for your ceremony, but reconsidered because it wasn't traditional? Or thought about wearing a long gown for the ceremony, then changing into a shorter, more comfortable dress for the reception?

Then a convertible wedding dress may be just the thing you need!

So just what is a convertible wedding dress, you may ask?  To put it simply, it is a long gown that can be transformed into a shorter-length cocktail dress (usually with a cleverly placed zipper hiding beneath one of the dress' layers)!

So if you can't imagine yourself walking down the aisle in a short style, and if a second dress doesn't fit into your budget, a convertible wedding dress is a great alternative.

PTE Wants to Know: Would you purchase a convertible wedding gown, or would you prefer to buy two separate dresses? Please leave a comment below.

Blushing Brides

I know I've said it a hundred times before, but I LOVE it when brides dare to be different and do something a little out of the box when it comes to planning their big day!

What better way to do that than to add a little color to your wedding dress instead of going with the traditional white, off white, or cream gown?!

I am absolutely loving blush colored (think light pink) wedding dresses at the moment!  There is just something about this soft hue that is so romantic and feminine.  Adding a touch of blush would definitely up the wow factor when your guests (and love of your life) get the very first glimpse of you walking down the aisle.  Oh, how I can hear the oooh's and ahhh's now!!!

If you're not bold enough to rock a blush colored gown down the aisle, perhaps you would be a little more open to rocking the color under your dress...in these gorgeous heels.  Aren't they stunning?!

Would you consider adding a hint of color by wearing a blush colored dress?  Have you ever attended a wedding where the bride wore a blush gown? Please leave a comment below.

A Fairy Tale Come True

When a bride-to-be is asked how she would like to look on her wedding day, the most common response is "I want to look like a princess"!  With the Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo collection, brides can do just that! The collection consists of 7 stylish gowns inspired by the Disney princesses (Jasmine, Ariel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Tiana, Belle, and Cinderella) most of us grew up watching.

Take a look at this video to get a sneak peek inside the collection and see how the Disney princess' unique styles were incorporated into each dress.

The collection will hit stores early 2011 and will range in price from $599-$1199.  Now that's a fairy tale come true!

The Bride Wore What?!

Do you want to up the "wow-factor" on your big day? Maybe you should consider a bold, dramatic color for your wedding gown!  Traditionally, brides wore white to symbolize purity and joy, but in this day and age it's all about personalization.  Couples are looking to create a wedding that reflects their own unique, personal style.  By choosing a gown in a not-so-typical shade, the bride is sure to stand out and give guests something to talk about long after the "I do's".  Whether it's a color that has a special meaning (i.e the color you wore on your first date) or simply a shade you feel compliments you best, the key is choosing a gown that makes you feel your absolute best when you walk down that aisle.

So, break all the rules and dare to be different in a colorful gown that has "you" written all over it!

Flatter Your Figure: Choosing the Right Dress For Your Body Type

You're getting married and you can't wait to pick out the dress of your dreams...you know, the one you've been dreaming about since you were a little girl. All you know is you're going to look FABULOUS and be the center of attention...the princess you were destined to be! But, (there's always a but!) before you can choose the perfect wedding dress, there a some things you must consider.

What's your body type, and what should you look for in a dress to compliment your figure?

If you are...

Pear Shaped - Small bust and waist with fuller hips. Look for dresses that deflect attention away from your lower half and bring width to your upper half.

Full Figured - Fuller bust, hips, and waistline. Look for a dress that will help minimize your waistline and create the illusion of smaller hips and thighs.

Petite - Short, thin, small bust, hips, and waistline. Look for a dress with vertical lines that appear to lengthen your frame.

Hourglass - Curvy but proportional; full bust and hips with small waistline. Look for a dress that will accentuate your curves.

Now that you have figured out which body type most closely resembles your shape, you are ready to begin the dress hunt. But before you go, make sure you take a moment to consider the different dress styles:

A-line: Also known as the "princess" cut, this style does not have a defined waist, and it's vertical seam flows from the top to the flared skirt, creating an "A" shape.

Mermaid: For the bride who wants to look sexy, the mermaid style contours against the body then flows out around the knees (similar to a mermaid's tail).

Empire: The Empire dress style has a raised waistline that starts just beneath the bust, then flows over the hips then flairs slightly to the floor.

Column: Also known as the "sheath" style, this dress style has a slim shape that fits closely to the body. The long lines of this style help to create an elongated illusion.

Ball Gown: Like something out of a fairytale, the Ball Gown style is very formal, with a fitted bodice and very full skirt that can hide large hips and thighs. Full Figured

Now that you've completed Wedding Dresses 101, it's time to round up the crew to find the dress that is just right for you!

Happy Dress-Hunting!

Nikola
