4th of July Drink Inspiration

Need a little drink inspiration for your 4th of July celebration?

How about this fun and festive cocktail idea...

Roman Candle

Ingredients:

3 oz. Three-O Berry Vodka
½ oz. Cranberry Juice
Dash of Grenadine
½ oz. Blue Curacao

Directions:

Shake vodka, cranberry juice and grenadine in a shaker with ice. Strain into martini glass. Pour Blue CuraƧao gently down the side of the glass so it comes to settle on the bottom.

Or how about Sangria, (because you can never go wrong with wine!)

Red, White, and Blue Sangria

Ingredients:

Strawberries, sliced
Blueberries
Pineapple, cut into star shapes
2 bottles dry white wine
1 cup Triple Sec
1/2 Cup berry-flavored vodka
1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
1/2 cup simple syrup

 Directions:
Combine the ingredients in a large pitcher and stir. Chill in the refridgerator for at least four hours.

Whatever you choose, the most important thing is to be safe and have fun!
XOXO,

Nikola

{Budget Saver} Baby's Breath

Looking for a simple, yet sophisticated way to spruce up your wedding/event decor without breaking the bank? "Baby's Breath" may be the answer you are looking for! The whimisical and delicate little white flowers are traditionally used as a "filler" in bouquets, corsages, and boutonnieres.  However, they can be an inexpensive alternative to much pricier wedding flowers and decor.  When grouped together in large bunches, Baby's Breath can make a dramatic impression.

Below are 3 ways you can incorporate Baby's Breath into your decor:

Bouquets

Ceremony Decor

Centerpieces

PTE Wants to Know: Do you think Baby's Breath should only be used as a "filler" flower, or can they hold their own against "traditional" wedding flowers? What other ways have you seen/used Baby's Breath in wedding/event decor?

XOXO,
Nikola

The Writing's on the...Cake

I'm pretty sure you're all used to seeing writing on a cake (Happy Birthday, Congratulations on the Baby, etc., etc.)  However, you rarely see it on a wedding cake.  The designs are usually so intricate and elegant, that writing "Congratulations on the Wedding" would seem so out of place.

Recently, I've noticed a few cool ways to include writing on a wedding cake that truly stand out...

Fondant Lettering
(Bonus points for adding a hint of color to the all-white design).

  Graffiti-like Design
This cake is covered in descriptive words and expressions that tell what life as a married couple is all about (Love, Friendship, Family, Trust, Fun, etc).

Vows in Calligraphy
I love the idea of including aspects of your vows (such as love, honor, cherish) on each cake tier.

Slogans/Sentiments
You can add a slogan, song title, or even briefly tell the story of how your love came to be.

Happy Friday everyone!

As we head into the first official Summer weekend, I was thinking about how cool (no pun intended) it would be to throw an Ice Cream Social...complete with a Build Your Own Sundae Bar!

Check out some of these fun ideas:

{Color Crush} Pink + Gray

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Father's Day weekend and that your week is already off to a great start.

Today's color crush post is dedicated to the beautiful combo Pink + Gray.

Nothing screams chic and modern more than this soft-hued color palette.  It is the perfect combination of subtle femininity with a touch of understated masculinity. Most guys would groan at the thought of wearing anything pink, but since gray is such a "manly" color, they would have no problem throwing in a few pink accents to tie the look together.  This color scheme can be tied into all elements of your wedding, from decor all the way down to the cake. It's sweet, elegant, and chic...wouldn't you agree?!

Trend Alert: Purse Bouquets

I spotted this photo on Martha Stewart Wedding yesterday...

I immediately had to do some research and find out more.  How fun would it be for your bridesmaids to carry their bouquets in a chic, stylish purse as they walk down the aisle.

Your flower girl can even get in on the action by carrying a cute floral purse in lieu of a basket of rose petals.

PTE Wants to Know: Would you consider letting your bridesmaids walk down the aisle with a purse bouquet instead of a traditional bouquet?

XOXO,
Nikola

{Entertaining} Father's Day Cigar Bar

Father's Day is this coming Sunday (June 17), so I thought I'd share a really cool entertaining idea that would be perfect for the occassion: A Cigar Bar!

Now, even if your boyfriend/husband/father doesn't smoke on a regular basis, that is totally ok.  In my experience, even a non-smoking male likes to indulge in a nice cigar every now and again, especially if it is in a male-bonding type of situation!  Think of it as social-smoking the same way us women drink socially ;)

If you are planning a little get-together for the special man in your life, consider upping the cool factor and adding a cigar bar to the mix.  If you're not planning a full-out party, maybe you can create a sort of "man cave" atmosphere, invite over a few of his closest friends who are also daddies, and let them enjoy the day...hey, it beats adding another tie to the collection.

PTE Want to Know: Have you ever been to a party/event that featured a cigar bar? Do you think the special man in your life would enjoy it?

XOXO,

Nikola
